Sua história remonta do ano de 1967, quando os três amigos Drew Abbott na guitarra, Jem Targal no baixo e vocais e Jim Craig na bateria formam o The Blewsies. Nesta época viviam em uma fazenda alugada e tocavam em todos os bares da região, chegando a gravar um EP.
Apesar da boa recepção local, o disco não vendeu nada fora dali. Chegaram a abrir para o MC5 no Grande Ballroom. Em 1969 assinam com a The Vanguard, gravadora predominantemente de bandas de Folk, que tentou flertar com o psicodélico, geralmente sem sucesso. Relutantes até certo momento, a gravadora não quis gravar o disco devido ao julgamento que o som era muito pesado.
Mas, com o lançamento do álbum "Believe" em 1970, produzido pelo lendário produtor de blues Sam Charters, surgem criticas que mesclavam entre elogios e criticas.
O disco vendeu muito pouco e a banda se desfez. Jem Targal parte para carreira solo, onde grava o elogiado álbum "Lucky Guy. Hoje vive em Mobile, Alabama.
Drew Abbott, como já dito, trabalhou com Bob Seger na The Silver Bullett Band. Bob Seger era vizinho de Jem Targal, onde conheceu Abbott. Ficou na banda de 1974 a 1982, participando de todos álbuns desse período. Saiu devido ao fato de não gostar que Seger usasse músicos de sessão nas gravações dos álbuns.
Mudou-se para Traverse, Michigan, formando a banda Burning Circle com o ex-vocalista do Savage Grace, Al Jacquez. Hoje participa da banda Leo Creek. Texto: Bandas Raras do Rock Anos 60 & 70.
