Liderada pelo guitarrista Billy Janey, o nome Truth veio em homenagem ao álbum Jeff Beck´s Truth, de Jeff Beck! O que temos aqui é um chute na nuca, verdadeiro hardão setentista.
apenas Truth, mudou o nome para Truth & Janey, pois já havia uma banda com essa denominação. Gravam apenas um single em 1972 pela Sound Communications, realizam uma turnê com Leslie West e chegam a participar de um festival com o Blue Oyster Cult.
Apenas em 1976, financiado por eles mesmos e lançado pela Montross Records, gravam seu primeiro LP, No Rest For The Wicked, com uma tiragem de 1000 cópias, que venderam rapidamente com fãs da região.
Após isso, a banda ainda lança outro álbum, já com um som mais funkeado, sem o peso e o hard característico. Este segundo, uma raridade imensa, já que nunca houve relançamento.
Com o fim da banda em 1978, Billy acrescenta o Lee no seu nome e se torna um cantor de blues, e lança alguns álbuns solo. O baixista Steve Bock se junta a uma banda chamada Nowhere Fast e Denis Bunce abandona a carreira de músico.
Em 1988 ocorre o lançamento de um LP duplo, pela Rock 'N' Bach Records, de uma destruidora apresentação da banda na cidade de Davenport. Em 2001, sai o cd deste disco pela Monster Records, sob a alcunha de Erupts! A Rockadrome relança em 2008 e em 2014 sai o LP duplo! Este álbum é altamente recomendado!
Em 2005, a banda integrou - se no Iowa Rock n´Roll Of Fame!
