De inicio contou com o baterista Mike Kidson, que depois se tornaria Road Manager do Genesis, e pelo baixista John Waite, que ficaria famoso no ano de 1984 com o hit "Missing You".
Mesmo com muitos shows, a banda nunca alcançou o sucesso. Já em 1973, apenas Alcock estava na banda.
Em 1974, ele recrutou o baixista Ben Eggleston, o baterista John Clark e o saxofonista, Paul Rossiter. As turnês voltaram, mas sem sucesso e sem conseguir contrato com gravadoras.
No ano seguinte, John Clark sai da banda e em 1976, Phil Cook assume as baquetas, enquanto Paul Rossiter vira mais um músico de apoio do que da banda propriamente. Nesse momento a banda consegue um contrato com uma gravadora.
