Em 1971 o trio chegou a gravar um disco hoje bem raro intitulado de "The Entrance To Hell' com o nome de Daemon, tendo como vocalista Al Shaw, apos a saída deste seguiram como trio adotando inicialmente o nome de Bullet e lançaram um single, mais tarde mudam o nome para Deep Purple's, mas diante da ameaça de um processo resolveram mudar o nome para Hard Stuff.
Lançam o primeiro e excelente disco em 1971 com o nome de Bulletproof, que na verdade era uma reedição em nova roupagem do disco do Daemon com menos duas músicas.
O álbum fez um grande sucesso e a banda fez uma turnê pela Europa ao lado do Deep Purple e Uriah Heep se concentrando basicamente na Itália e Alemanha.
Em 1973 a carreira da banda foi brutalmente interrompida por causa de um acidente de carro envolvendo Hammond e Cann que se feriram gravemente, embora tivessem lançado mais um excelente álbum nesse mesmo ano que foi o Bolex Dementia a banda acabou.
O vocalista Cann ajudou a reformar o Atomic Rooster e saiu em excursão em 1973 com o Thin Lizzy pela Alemanha. O baixista Gustafson resolveu remontar o Big Three em 1973 com o guitarrista Brian Griffiths e o baterista Nigel Olsson e lançam o álbum Resurrection. O baterista Hammond monta uma banda de nome The SIrens.
Mais tarde em 1975 Gustafson excursiona com a Roxy Music e toca com Ian Gillan nos álbuns 'Child In Time', 'Clear Air Turbulence' and 'Scarabus'.
